South Korea's leading construction equipment manufacturers are actively expanding their global presence in anticipation of an industry recovery. HD Hyundai Group is consolidating its two subsidiaries and will officially launch "HD Hyundai Construction Equipment" in January next year. The new company aims to optimize global product lines and production systems while developing new growth areas such as electrification, with the goal of ranking among the world's top ten in the industry by 2030.
Simultaneously, Doosan Group is bidding for Germany's Wacker Neuson through its subsidiary Doosan Bobcat to address its relative weakness in the European market and further consolidate its position in North America. To protect its competitive advantage, Doosan Bobcat recently filed patent infringement lawsuits against industry giant Caterpillar in both Europe and the United States.
Industry analysis indicates that the global construction equipment market has bottomed out and is expected to see its first growth in five years by 2026, driven by increased mining activities and potential interest rate cuts in the United States. Analysts believe that HD Hyundai's merger will help narrow the gap with international leaders, while Doosan Bobcat is poised to benefit from the recovery of the North American real estate market.
